Roaming Through the Airport

This weekend I went to New Orleans with my dad on a commissioning job. The whole time I was traveling I kept thinking about our trip to China. I can’t help but be super excited about it. I was waiting in line to go through security and my mind kept wandering to how it will be when we have our daughter: bringing her home, all the places we want to take her, the trips we will take together as a family. In line in front of me was a lovely Asian family with a cute little girl about 6 years old. My heart melted at the sight of her with her little rolling suitcase and teddy bear tucked under her arm.

I want to go to CHINA!!

Last Care Package

I sent out our third and final care package this morning.  We sent a couple of blankets i made, some stuffed animals, and a ton of clothing for the children at the orphanage.  The orphanage should receive it in about 10 days.  With any luck, they will send us pictures of Saiya when they receive the package like they did last time.  :)

Also, we received the receipt for our I-800 application today in the mail.  At least we know that our application was received and they are processing it.  I hope it doesnt take too long for our approval to come in the mail.

We hope to have final travel dates by the end of this month!

Thats about it for now!

Visiting Family for the Summer

My brother drove down from Oklahoma with his kids to stay for a few days. My mom is going to watch his kids while he converts his garage back home. He has a two year old and a nine month old. We had them all over for dinner the other night. My house was alive with four children (my sister’s two and my brother’s two). It was a little preview of what Christmas is going to be like this year with five children! We are so happy that we are going to be able to share our little girl with such wonderful children! My sister’s two didn’t quite know what to make of their cousins (whom they have never met before now). It was cute how they were so unsure of themselves and very jealous of the attention their mommy was giving to the baby. Briefly, we had concerns about how they will react with Saiya coming into our lives, but my sister has assured us that because we have involved them in this adoption every step of the way that they will be fine. They have drawn pictures for her (which we sent in the care packages) and helped decorate her room and pick out clothes. I think sometimes, they are just as excited as we are to have her coming home.

A little less than two months to go!!!!

More Paperwork and Excitement Abounds

We sent in our I800 application and Visa applications last week after we received our Letter of Acceptance.  If we travel in July, like we plan, we have less than 2 months to wait for travel dates!!!  My belly is all fluttery just thinking about it!  My sister is planning on traveling with us and we know this will be the trip of a lifetime for all of us, especially little Saiya.

In the midst of paperwork and more waiting on responses, we have been busy tearing about the back yard to make room for a deck and a play set that we plan on building/buying after we bring Saiya home.  I'm sure it wont be done in time before we go to China, but thats alright.  We also tore out all the plants in the front flower-bed area.  I planted several rose bushes and more jasmine will be going in there sometime next weekend.  I think the nesting is starting to drive Chris crazy!  Hey, according to some friends at work, i'm allowed to be all crazy and emotional, i AM in my last trimester afterall!  HAHA!

10 weeks and two days since our Log in Date

However, A watched Pot Never Boils

My mother told me that a LONG time ago. So, against my better judgement as I am trying very hard to save as much time off as I can, we took yesterday off work and went to Orlando for an awesome concert and a day at Sea World’s Aquatica. The concert was amazing and the park was a blast. We came home refreshed and stress free. We didn’t think about the adoption process, paperwork, or the agonizing wait for about 36 hours. It was a welcome vacation from our busy lives.

Yesterday after we got home, we received a phone call from Meg at CAWLI. We finally received our Letter of Acceptance from China!! It was a perfect end to a perfect day! So, today we have been scrambling to get paperwork together, take additional passport photos, and apply for Visas to travel to CHINA!! We are super excited and now actually have more solid travel times. I managed to request that we travel in July so that my sister can travel with us. Meg told me that there are several families traveling in June and then another group will be traveling in July. So, there should be no problem for us to travel in July. So, with a little over 2 months to go, we are excited, anxious, nervous, and thrilled all at the same time. Filling out the applications for visas really makes the whole process a little more “real”!

I’m so glad that we had the chance to relax and take some time for ourselves to spend time together and I can’t wait until we have a little girl to share our lives with!

Earthquake in China

For those of you wondering about the recent earthquake in China and the welfare of our daughter…

I wrote to our agency this morning concerning her well-being.  The earthquake occurred in the southwest portion of the country very close to the region of Tibet.  Our daughter is in Ningxia which is very close to the northern central part of the country.  There has been no damage reported more than 800 km away from the epicenter of the earthquake which occurred in Yushu.  We were assured by the agency that all of their waiting children (those children who have already been referred to families here in the United States) are safe and well.

We will keep you posted if anything changes or when we get new information.

9 Weeks and Counting!

It’s been nine weeks since our Log In Date. We are hoping that we will receive our Letter of Acceptance sometime by the end of the month. In the mean time, we have been keeping busy around the house. There is so much to do- cleaning, packing, and organizing- that we have more than enough to keep our hands full!

We received updated pictures of our little girl! How much she has grown! I can’t wait to go to China to pick her up. She is the cutest little girl in the world! If you want to see pictures, send me an e-mail at tting5@aol.com and I will forward them to you.
Back to painting and cleaning!
